ROTHOSCHOOL KOREA: THE DESIGN OF TIMBER STRUCTURES

Why participating?

The goal is to learn how to design a timber structure in a workmanlike manner, to learn, with real case studies, the detailing of a timber building, avoiding the most common mistakes and optimizing the resistance and durability.

The course will go in detail on hot topics about timber construction in Korea: fire design, termites, durability in tropical climates, connections, hardwood and corrosion resistance and market analysis.

Location: SETEC, Seminar Room 1

Adresse: 104 Nambusoonhwanro (514 Daechi-dong), Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea

Duration: 8 hours

Target:

  • Engineering and design companies who want to train their workers with the professionals of timber constructions (avoiding or reducing time-consuming internal formations)
  • Construction foremen and project managers
  • Designers who want to get a deeper know-how on timber structures and understand the construction details
  • Technical salesmen working in timber constructions
  • CEO and managers of timber companies

To sum up

The course takes place with a mix of local designers and timber structural engineers from Europe. It is quite a unique chance to get a wide knowledge on designing and detailing a timber building. It consists of 8 hours of applied theory with practical examples of case studies.

You will have the chance to learn in detail:

  • fire design of timber structures
  • durability in tropical climates, termites and corrosion of connections
  • the most critical details of a timber structure (connection to the ground, installation of steel to timber connections, durability of connections)
  • the handling of structural elements
  • the installation and design of concealed connections
